Buffalo Milk for Visitors
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has mocked President William Ruto’s proposal to explore buffalo milk production, converting the idea into a humorous political punchline.

Addressing attendees at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Rigathi Gachagua poked fun at President William Ruto's suggestion that Kenyans consider milking buffaloes. He lightheartedly shared that he had tasked local youth with retrieving buffalo milk from nearby Hombe Forest to serve distinguished guests arriving at his residence. "I came back home and found that you have been told to start taking buffalo milk. I am at my home, Wamunyoro. Because there are so many buffaloes at Hombe Forest, I have sent young men to see if they can get some milk so that I can get enough to prepare for my visitors."
Gachagua’s comments followed his return from an extended tour in the United States and a high-profile meeting at his Nyeri residence with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and key figures from the Linda Mwananchi movement.
